Trek highlights

This trek is popularly known as the ‘nomad trek’. Otherwise also known as the Tsomoriri trek, it leads past the high plateau lakes of Tsokar and Tsomoriri, passing numerous nomadic encampments and offering chance of seeing some wildlife. It is a wonderful trek that includes the passage over the stunning Parang La (5800m), easier to reach from the Tsomoriri side than from the Kibber side as the ascent to the pass is more gradual. There are also two other passes to cross both of which are over 5400 meters , Kyamayuri La (5410m) and Yalung Nyau La (5440m), the later providing for great views of Tso Moriri. The trek starts from Rumtse in Ladakh and finishes at Kibber, a village in Spiti valley high above the well-known Ki Gompa and the Spiti capital of Kaza and regarded as one of the highest situated mountain villages in the world. Along with our Lamayuru to Darcha trek, this is the most demanding trek, with total of sixteen days spent on the trail. The first three days are often the most difficult particularly for those who may not be enough acclimatized and thus a proper acclimatization as well as a solid degree of physical fitness are needed for this trek.
