Sham trek highlights |
|
Sham trek is the easiest trek we offer but it is
by no means an easy one, namely on account of the altitude which can be always a
problem at least in the beginning stages. It can be undertaken by most people,
provided you are in a good physical shape. There are many villages and
monasteries on this trek and all of the passes are under 4000m. It can be
undertaken throughout the year as none of the passes gets snowbound. The trek
leads from village to village, a great opportunity to experience Ladakhi life
and customs up close, rather than through remote areas. The tour also includes
visits to most of the prominent monasteries in the region, including Hemis,
Thikse and Stakna as well as a day trip to the Kardung Pass on the road to Nubra
Valley, the highest road in the world at 18,372 ft./5600m above sea level with
views of the Saser Spur, the easternmost outcrop of the Karakoram. Map below! |
