Samode was a large
and flourishing provincial town of the erstwhile Princely
State of Jaipur. The Zamidars (landlords) of Samode and the
principal thakurs (village chieftains) were a branch of the
house of Kingdom of Amber, tracing their relation to the
fabled Maharaja Prithviraj Singhji of Jaipur, the 17th
prince of the house of Kacchwaha Rajputs. Samode, a noble
feudatory of the Amber & Jaipur principality and was among
the wealthiest territories in the Amber kingdom. The
hereditary title of 'Rawal Saheb' still rests with the
present family.
Samode Palace was transformed into one of the
premium palace hotels in 1987. The palace is built on a
small hillock and planned in a progression of courtyards of
increasing height.
