Rajasthan offers stunning
bicycle rides in its majestic deserts and through its remote
towns and villages, leading through surreal landscapes
dominated by ancient forts and palaces. Almost 90% of the
Rustic Rajasthan cycling route is paved but approx. 10% are
non-paved dirt tracks, but those are the backroads to the incredible
Rajasthan born of ancient roots.
Rajasthan Bike Tour
Itinerary
DAY 1: Arrive Karauli
Pickup and transfer to hotel. Relax & Overnight.
DAY 2: In Karauli ( 80 km ride )
Today we start the day early and ride towards Timangarh
Fort, going through villages and past fields to this hidden
lake with a ruined fort. Its a fairly level gradient road
with minor up's
and downs. Asphalt all the way to the lake, except the last
100 meters to the lake. We return back to the hotel for
lunch. After lunch, we ride our cycles into the town and
visit the beautiful city palace and the temples of the city.
We return back to the hotel after watching the evening
prayers at the temple.
DAY 3: Karauli Ramathra - 80 km ride
We set out early into the Kela Devi national park. We take
an extra detour through the forest to marvel at the Chambal
valley and the beautiful gorges. We return back to the
temple and
turn towards Ramathra. It's a beautiful ride through small
hills and some remote villages.
DAY 4: Ramathra - 40 km ride
Today is a short ride, but involves some rough country with
non paved routes through villages & tribal areas. Very
remote and beautiful areas where you feel as if taken back
in time. Chances
of getting a flat tire is high and the thin touring tires
may not be ideal. Else, relax and walk around or ride in a
jeep.
DAY 5: Ramathara Jaipur ( Backroad / 150 km cycling)
A very flat ride through some small towns and as we approach
Jaipur we get back into cars. Not the best of rides but it
is always nicer on our bicycles than in the car. Crossing
these small
colorful towns you will get to feel and smell of India. The
madness on the streets with cows and vendors provides for
the real India ambiance.
DAY 6: Jaipur City sightseeing
DAY 7: Jaipur- Pushkar ( Drive) -
Pushkar - Nimaj - 100 km ride
We start early and drive on the highway until short of
Pushkar (2 hours). We get on our cycles and make the entry
into the holy town of Pushkar with a lake in the centre of
the town. We will
explore the town on cycles and have an early lunch before
heading out along the Aravali Hills to Nimaj. It is a nice
lonely road going through mild hills, fields and villages.
We cross the town and head off on a small narrow road
(partly dirt for 1 km) to the hotel.
DAY 8: Nimaj cycling around village
The tracks around the place are mainly dirt, but beautiful.
DAY 9: Nimaj Jodhpur ( state highway / 100 km- option of
cycling or driving)
It is a nice road through a part of the Aravali hills.
Though a state highway, the traffic is not heavy and is
possible to do on cycles. It is a 100% paved road and great
for touring cycles.
DAY 10: Jodhpur - Pali - Narlai
Today drive untill Pali village, and from Pali ride up to
Narali. It is a back road and around 50 km of cycling. The
ride is very flat through some small towns and villages with
the Aravali hills and
Kumbalgarh to the left of the road.
DAY 11: Narlai Deogarh ( Backroad / 80 km cycling)
This is a very interesting section as we climb up the
Aravali hills towards Deogarh. The ride can be made even
more interesting and longer by 20 km if we take the route
via Kumbalgarh. To include this option in our itinerary we
need to start early with an early
lunch at Kumbalgarh. This is one of the most stunning
bicycle rides in Rajasthan.
DAY 12: Deogarh ( excursion cycling option 60 km)
Beautiful rides through the rough Aravali hills. We can
leave it flexible today as there are many options here. We
will combine our ride with a short train ride down the hill
and then cycle uphill and have a nice picnic lunch.
DAY 13: Deogarh - Devigarh ( Backroad / 100 km- cycling)
Devigarh Udaipur ( Drive)
Our
ride today is not very challenging but interesting
through some backroads and villages. At end of the ride we
will be visiting the famous Eklingji Temples known for their
architectural marvel. Finally drive to Udaipur city.
DAY 14: Udaipur sightseeing
A chance for great pictures, souvenirs or a stop at the
florist.
DAY 15: Udaipur - departure
At appointed time transfer to
airport for your
flight to next destination.
