The Bangala Karaikudi:
Karaikudi, is the Land of Chettiars the prosperous banking community who ventured overseas to South and South East Asia in the 19th and 20th Centuries and amassed great fortunes. The Bangala, a charming 75 year old Chettinad Bungalow, belonging to the Meyyappa Chettiar Family, has been restored and converted into a heritage guest house.

Explore Karaikudi village, known for its fabulous mansions and with its many temples. One of the unique features of the stay at Bangala is the cuisine of Chettinad.


Logistic Details : Bungala is located 100 Kms from Madurai.
Duration : We recommend 1 night’s stay.


How to include Karaikudi in the Temples to Backwaters itinerary:
On Day-3, drive directly from Madurai Airport to Karaikudi and return back the next day for stay at Madurai.

 

Phillip Kutty's Farm:
Phillip Kutty’s Farm is an opportunity to enjoy a Kerala experience in a fascinating location in the company of a caring family to look after you. It is for those who prefer small and friendly places, and a perfect hideaway for those looking for that undisturbed environment. It’s an ideal location to enjoy warm hospitality and home cooked food.


The Farm is located in an Island reclaimed from the backwaters and cultivates coconut, nutmeg, banana, cocoa. Jumbo Prawn (scampi) and Karimeen (pearl spot) are found in some of the farm canals.
Logistic Details: Phillip Kutty’s Farm is located between Periyar and Kumarakom. Its 3 hours drive from Periyar and an hour’s journey to Kumarakom by boat or road.

How to include Phillip Kutty’s Farm in the Temples to Backwaters itinerary:
On Day-6, clients drive from Munnar to Phillip Kutty’s Farm and continue to Kumarakom on Day-7.
